Everything you need to know about the podcast, roller skating in the UK, and how to get involved.
About the Podcast
Get Your Skates On is the UK's home for roller skating culture, straight out of Bristol. We're a podcast by Bauer Bants — sharing stories from the rink, voices from the community, and everything that makes skating special.
Bauer Bants are the duo behind Get Your Skates On — Garfee and Garfette Daniels, based in Bristol. Two Bristol-based skating enthusiasts who love the culture and wanted to create a space where the UK skating community could come together, share stories, and celebrate the culture. Bristol born and bred, South West through and through.
We release new episodes regularly — the best way to stay in the loop is to subscribe on your favourite platform or sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of any page.

Getting Started with Skating
It depends on what style of skating you want to do! We wrote a full guide to help you decide: How to Choose Your First Pair of Quad Skates — UK Buyer's Guide. Short answer: quad skates are brilliant for rink skating and dancing, inlines are great for speed and distance.
Loads of places! We maintain a UK roller skating events calendar covering rinks, roller discos, meetups, festivals, and derby leagues across Bristol, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Southampton, Leeds, and beyond.
Most people can stand up, roll, and stop within their first session (about an hour). After 3–5 sessions you'll feel comfortable cruising around. Getting properly confident takes a few weeks of regular practice — but that's the fun part.
Absolutely. Skating burns 350–600 calories per hour, builds core strength and balance, and is low-impact on your joints compared to running. Plus, you're having so much fun you forget you're exercising.
